I have messaged sellers before and generally got derogatory replies. I have since stopped for these reasons: 1. There is SO much knowledge around if taken the time to do a bit of research. 2. Most of the nonsense is so ridiculous, I think they already know better. 3. I almost never get a positive response. 4. eBay doesn't give the smallest hoot.
Agree. But it's the Thunderdome, we all know when we enter. Slay or be slayed. Admin is aware, and so am I. Win some, lose some. There are a few really good sellers, and some lambs that need to be sheared. It's a mixed bag, and we all know that.
The few times I've messaged them, they immediately attack. It's like, how dare you challenge my right to scam somebody? Not worth my time anymore.
In my opinion, eBay has made itself into the world's preeminent distributor of counterfeit goods. I had forgotten how long it has been since I closed my eBay store, so I looked it up. It turns out that was over 4 years ago and it feels like it's been only a couple of years. Obviously I do not miss it one bit!
I spotted an obvious counterfeit 1794 Dollar on eBay. I sent them an email about it. Their repsonse ( was not exact words) "This lot conforms to our policies." I am not alone. A number of other collectors who have pointed out obvious counterfiets got the same boilerplate message. So the message is, counterfeit offerings conform to eBay policies. Message acknowleged.
