A few weeks ago I had won a graded proof nickel for my set on eBay. About the same time I also started having heart problems and was in and out of the hospital so I never noticed the nickel hadn't come or that I had received another package in it's place. My wife was checking the mail and when a package of coins came in she opened it put it on my chest of drawers and didn't even mention it as thngs were kind of hectic. After a couple of weeks she said hey you got some coins the other day and brought them to me. It was a graded 2015 Truman Coin and Chronicle set with packaging. I asked who it was from and she said she didn't know I also told her I never bought one of those and never even bid on one. I finally decided it had to have been sent by mistake from the dealer that hadn't sent the nickel. I contacted him and he said he hired a new person and they mixed up a lot of packages around that time. He didn't seemed concerned about me having a $200+ set for a $50 nickel but I returned it and he refunded my money. I know long story but just wondering if it happens often?
I have had it happen once or twice. Seller has always made it right. Both times, though, I was in the end that got the lesser of the two coins. As long as the seller makes it right with no hassle, I still leave them good feedback. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
I ordered a raw BU 1881s morgan dollar from a seller on ebay last year, he sent a raw BU 1891s by mistake. I thought about keeping it for a minute, but my conscience made me message him and let him know. I sent it back, and he sent me the coin i ordered, + a few silver certificates, a worn barber half, and a bill of rights commemorative half.
Happened to me once, a few months ago. I won a 1757 Peru pillar real and instead received a 1941 New Zealand PCGS MS-65 penny. The auction firm mixed the lot numbers up. I sent the coin back and received the correct one.
I won a 1921 Peace dollar on Heritage Auctions. They sent me a 1925. They corrected the problem quickly and professionally. It is bound to happen with high-traffic outlets.
I've bought hundreds of coins and never had one not arrive or receive the wrong one. Just lucky so far. I have had a few that were over-graded though. More importantly, I hope you're feeling better. Cal
Have never received the wrong thing, but extra things.........one time notable from the US mint......
