Hey guys, I am hoping I can get some input on this 1988 Quarter. Is it an error? Is it from when it was engraved? Is it valuable, and is it something you have seen before? I did a little research but haven't found anything. Thanks!
This is a Coin Wrapping Machine.. it could leave a ring such as the one found on your quarter. If the circle is incused into the field it is not an error.. it is not engraved by the Mint as you asked.
Just wondering why the coin wrapping machine wouldn't hit the "raised letters and date" instead of just the low relief fields?
Sometimes I get quite a few of those in boxes of cents. It is a disappointment to see all those pennies getting ruined. I dread the day I find a major doubled die ruined like those coins.
