Anyone dis-sastisfied with the quality of the SF 2 ASE set?

FINALLY got set one of two. The reverse of the reverse proof has three marks, like light scratches I guess, each about 5 mm long. They can be clearly seen if the coin is tilted at an angle. They are on the coin - NOT the capsule. ARGH! What the #$%$%. I think when I get the other set I'm going to send this one back. I also know why they were so expensive - there's got to be $15 of packaging there. At least.

Anyone else have bad luck? Heck, anyone want to buy my set?

Mine looks amazing. You look into returning it to the mint?

Could you post pics, and are you looking for that or will you discount it?

I'm leaning toward 'most likely' (for returning). I know it's a pain, but the reverse proof is the one I really wanted. You can't see the marks unless you tilt the coin in the light, but they are there. And not small - I don't think I'm being nit-picky - there's no way this should have gotten thru any sort of a QA check. I'm going to see what the second set looks like. Maybe the regular proof will be all hosed up and I can get one good set between the two.

I'll try to capture it in a picture.

I just wanna see the set mainly, the scratch is not really much of a problem for me, just dont know what the set looks like

I always read these after the camera and coins are put away! :-(

Anyway, here's the two of the marks - I can't seem to capture them well. One is between the "OZ" of ounce and the eagle, and the other two, of which only one I can capture, is between "States" and the star field.

Yeah, I don't think I could put up with that, either.

I was really really happy with the reverse proof in the set, the regular proof was terrible, I would have returned them if the reverse proof was just average, I guess I liked the reverse proof enough to put up with the regular proof.

Send that sucker packin'. And do it before the return time limit is up.

Same here Chip. My regular proof was less than 'stellar' but the reverse proof made up for it. Besides.....I already had the regular proof issue in acceptable condition so I did't fret too much, :)

When reading the title of this thread I thought, "you gotta be kidding me!" Like, other than anyone who bought them? But seriously, find a friendly LCS who'll sell you a set in OGP for less than $200, and pick some pretty ones. That's what I'd do right now, if I hadn't cancelled my orders from the mint and picked up 70s when they were cheap.

  21. Both coins in my set were great. There was some minor machine doubling on the reverse proof noticeable under very high magnification. Both should easily be 70s. If you are unhappy with your set, definitely return it. Those flaws will always be the first thing you notice. TC
