I put the uncirculated from mint sets in an album and also the proofs. Also get a roll from the bank at face value when they come out. Why? Beats me.:goofer:
I have the 2007 and 2008 S Proof ones in PF 69. I like how NGC puts them in holders by year. I'm collecting them just because I like how they look, and I think it will be pretty cool to have the whole set.
I have Dansco 8184 & 8185 Unc & proof..This is for my grandson he's 11. Maybe it will be worth something in 50 years. I have a mint subscription for the proofs.
I have three folders that I put coins in from the bank. I have two albums I collect the proofs in. Why do I do it? Well I, uh, you see, I-uh, ummm...just because. Really when they started I had never bought anything directly from the mint, had no proof coins, and I think the kids will someday enjoy having them. Also they were affordable.
I started them in circulated condition. Just one of each president though. I think they look nice but unfortunatley in a few more years mine will probably just be brown lumps. They tone (tarnish) like mad. I did it cuz I found some at a BP (yup the gas station) that a guy turned in and it sparked my collecting ambitions or better yet, got me my circulated "coin fix" for the day cuz roll searching turned up nothing lol.
I have a Dansco of Uncirculateds and proof. I laso have a registry of both proof and business strikes. http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetListing.aspx?PeopleSetID=39596 http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetListing.aspx?PeopleSetID=40071
Just acquired a roll of William Henry Harrison today. With finances so strained, actually they have been for a couple years now, collecting at face value is about as good as we can do right now. Also I'm getting great experience in grading these in order to keep the very best of what I can acquire. I collect only MS condition. Some are quite nice, better then 65 for sure. I share some, then spend rest, mostly at the grocery. I enjoy peoples reaction to them. Most people don't know about their existence, and some don't care. In a nut shell its affordable and keeps my interests in coin collect active. Allen
I do and I say why not. I can pick them up at face and maybe a little extra for the other one. It is always fun to fill up a dansco. I also collect the proofs in 69DCAM by PCGS because I think a full set will be very nice when completed. They are also pretty cheap like around 8 bucks each. Nickeldude
Last night I watched a thrilling episode of Coin Shoppe that had previously aired. They were selling a 4 coin set of Presidential PFs 70s from '07 @ $700.00+ and '08 @ $400.00+. They were each in the NGC 4 coin holder. The two sets bought with S/H would cost over $1200.00. Then they were also selling PCGS roll year sets that had no grade, but listed as "Fist Day of Issue" at some really high price. And, they had a '07 and '08 set slabbed with no grade, just BU and "Fist Day of Issue" at another really high price. I wonder if the people buying at these prices are the same ones paying $100.00 for the new penny rolls?
Anyone..................................... ......i collect them cause, um, uh, it's the collector in me! and i'm looking forward to these in 2010.http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/katek1304/2010PresBucks.jpg
I put together my state quarter collection from circulation, but I do not find these in circulation, so I figure that when the time comes, I will put together a collection in one way or another, maybe NGC graded or I don't know. I will start it when I finish some other half finished collections, I also do not feel like going through the hassle of waiting for them all to come out.
I collect these like mad! Im starting to hoard the sms satin presidentials and sacs. I made a lot of money getting the Lincoln dollar proofs graded and selling the pf70s. I mostly search through rolls for errors. I seem to find a whole lot.
