Just curious...more valuable than silver, much cheaper than gold, and part of the platinum family. I don't know of any other countries that mint palladium bullion pieces other than Canada, but it seems there is only one major maker of palladium bars, but they only come in 1 oz. and 10 oz. bars, which I can't really afford.

Anyone know anything about other palladium products, maybe in the 1/4 oz. range? Let's hear it!

I've got some pieces form Stillwater Palladium. I'd like to get the maple leaf. Palladium is nice metal in the platinum group and it can be very volatile in it;s price. in 2001 it ran over $1000 an ounce. I bought it at it's low at around $170 an ounce. I've talked to several dealers who have no interest in it. In fact, not many have interest in platinum either. Therefore, as an investment, platinum is not very wise because not many will buy it from you. Platinum is sort of in between palladium and gold. Your best bet is to stick it out with gold or silver.

Scrap yards will always buy it, but they may not give you a satisfactory price for it.

Not in very large quantities sadly. The British government though about using it for coinage in the 1880s when it was about 5 times the price of silver.

Thanks for the info. I think I would just like an example because I like more exotic metals. I used to collect fossils, gems, and minerals as a kid, and now I'm thinking of assembling a small collection of metal in it's natural form (I gave away my fossil/gem/mineral collection to my dad years ago, as he still actively collects those things).

SHHHHHHHHH. If you keep mentioning this metal out Mint will start to make Elvis coins with it. They are now making just about everything else.
