http://www.torex.net/torex_coin_show/index.html I'm thinking of going tomorrow, see what's available. Anyone else planning to go and or have experience with the show?
Thats a little to far to travel on late notice but I do have a question. Does the Canadian Government charge taxes on coins bought locally? I collect classical US coinage. What would you guess its percentage is at these shows? It could make a difference in my future attendance.
As for the government charging taxes on coins, it's a cash only affair at this show as I saw (although I assume you mean when crossing back over the boarder, which I'm unsure about). Classical US coinage percentage... it's probably around less than 10% at least (1/2 dozen graded capped liberty halves) . I didn't get a great feel since I spent only a couple hours there and I'm personally interested in foreign coins of which there wasn't a great showing. Plenty of high end notes, a large part of the show was graded notes (50% of which is Canadian) with a few nice Black Eagles. It's $6 admittance which isn't great but I'd never been before and I'd been itching to look at some decent coins locally. I was going to buy some German States and ZAR coinage but the dealers whom had them were either tied up for a while or had to go (near the end). Good showing of bullion as well. Would I go again... I think so just not any time soon.
