Does anyone else nic-a-date or use acid to get dates on their buffalo nickels? Post some results because im thinking of doing the same

This example was worn smooth with no hint of the year. One drop of nic-a-date revealed that it was a 1917.

    Fun to play with.

yes, I did it back in the 1960's.

It was fun, for a while, until I completed a set in no time.

    Then it was no fun

You used acid on nickels in the 60s, or you just used acid in the 60s? :D

I agree with the others. It's fun and you might just find a key date. ANACS will even slab them as "Genuine."

We have a small coin club and one meeting I brought a roll of dateless nickels and some date back and water. everyone had a fun time trying out there technique on how to dab and wait and dunk in water. Can't remember what the outcome was but it was fun and educational. :)

I have done this to a few nickels. I had a handful of dateless Buffalo's with mint marks a while back (5 or so) and wanted to see if any were key dates. One turned out to be a 1921-S. So, that was a fun find.
