Hello. I want to cross over some PCGS 20th Ann. 2006 W uncirculated Silver Eagles to NGC. Does anyone know if they will cross these over with the 20th Anniversary label? Thanks!
from what i heard, they require the sets in sealed Mint boxes.. not sure about crossovers.... Good question, lets see what the smarties say
I believe they would cross them, but for the life of me I can't figure out why you would want to?!? They are worth more in the PCGS holder than in an NCG on of similar grade, so shat could be the rationale of crossing them? I don't get it.
He wants to get MS70 grade instead of MS69...I saw your post on CU. Yeah if you cross them they'll note that they are 20th Anniversary (in the variety slot you better note that they are 20th anniversary just to be sure).
My best guess is they will not . I think they have to be sealed in the orginal mint shipping box. You could call them and find out but my guess is they will not. I could be wrong, seems like i was back in 1986 but I could be wrong about that. lol
Well, PCGS will not give these MS70 grades due to milk spotting that occurs all too often with these coins. NGC will though and I have some very nice looking 20th ann. silver eagles.
From a laymans point of view, it would be financial suicide twenty years down the road. Just compare the auction price difference between NGC and PCGS for older coins. A Caddy is a Caddy and a Chevy is a Chevy. I am a Chevy person myself but like to ride in Caddies.
I too just can't imagine why change from PCGS to anyone if already done. Of course I've noticed the NGC slabs are thicker so it's possible some just want thicker slabs.
Simply because the NGC MS70's are going fo rvery good money. Unfortunately sometimes you have to sell to be able to buy more
I wouldn't bet on it either. I would bet though that in twenty years ICG will have climbed way up the market ladder.
I looked at the NGC and PCGS website's population reports. Here's what I found: NGC: MS69 26,985 (83%) MS70 5,355 (17%) PCGS: MS69 9,012 (100%) MS70 0 (0%) According to that, PCGS has never certified one of these as MS70 (though there were many PR70s - about 15%). Maybe that's why he wants to cross... hoping to get an MS70 and bump the price. I bet an NGC 70 is sells for more than an PCGS 69. To answer your question.... I have used NGC and been pleased. But this isn't like rolling dice. Don't bother submitting to NGC unless you look very closely and feel that they really might pull a 70.
Well, I'm a 70 collector, but I will sell some to be able to buy more coins to feed my addiction, LOL.
