Any VAM people?

I've posted this elsewhere where apparently few people collect or are knowledegable of VAM's, so I thought I'd try my luck here. The not so great pics are of a 1886 P Morgan which fit some but not all of the diagnostic signs of a VAM 1C. The obverse has the markings of the die clash below the lips and faintly to the left of the eye. But, the reverse is where I get confused. Every description and illustration I've seen clearly shows two sets of wedge shaped clash marks in the field between the eagle's left wing and the wreath, a top set and a lower set. The coin in question only shows the top set with nothing at all below. So, is this still the VAM 1C or something else entirely?

That is not a 1C. A VAM 1C would have 3 clashes. Can you try to take a little better pics of the whole coin?

I agree with byrd, try to take some pics of the whole coin, those are two very common clash areas.

I doubt these pics will help any better, but they're the best my little camera will take:

Yeah, its definitely not a 1C. There is nothing that pops out to me as being anything besides the clash marks. But as said earlier, its a very common area for clashing. It is very hard to attribute toned coins. Hopefully someone else can help you.

The only thing that stands out to me is the date, I'm not too sure but the 6 does look higher than usual (VAM 6), check the A in dollar if it has a small bump under it. VAMworld - 1886-P VAM-6

Or it could possibly be the VAM 7, if the date is slightly righter than usual, check the ear, and arrow tips for slight doubling. VAMworld - 1886-P VAM-8

The pics are good, but I couldn't be too positive about what VAM it is, without having the coin in hand.

The 6 does look slightly higher now that I look at at. Unfortunately I couldn't see any doubling on the ear or arrow tips nor a bump under the A. The only other thing I found was a die crack running north from the top of the eagle's right wing to under the N in IN. I appreciate the help.

The 1886 is a hard year because it also has a lot of unattributed varieties, your morgan also has the details of the tail feathers, above the olive branch and arrows polished out, which is also in the unattributed varieties.
