Well folks I recieved a icg IHC in the mail this morning .
Not sure how , but the inside of what should be clear slab is almost white with moisture..
I wrapped the slab in a paper towel and put it in a container filled with rice , in hopes it would help!
Any ideas on how I can get the moisture out of this thing??? I'd hate to crack it out , but if all else fails !

You might try plain (no additives) clay kitty litter, too.

That's supposed to work for cell phones. I don't know how it's going to draw off the moisture in a sealed slab, though. I wouldn't use cat litter, that has chemicals. You might just have to saw out the coin. I mean, if there's a lot of moisture and you don't want to leave it on there.

Wow, if I were in the lab, I would put it in a vacuum dessicator and pump it down. At home, perhaps put it in a jar with some dessicant (silica gel or the like) and put it in a warm place.

Fresh rice can help, since it absorbs water. You can try that for a couple of days, then I agree with dessicant. Also, you can throw a couple of pieces of junk fresh silver unprotected in there as well to absorb any toning agents that might be present. ASE or Maple leaves will work, as they are both pure silver only worth melt. If the ASE tones, just put it on Ebay to double your money and put a fresh one in there. ;)

Point being, you want to put it in an environment where no new water will be around, and surround it with items that will draw out and absorb the water in the slab. Warm is ok, but never put in the sun, as that can be too warm and start a chemical reaction on the coin.

Well at first I stuck it a container with a desiccant , but I remembered my cousin drawing the moisture from his cell phone screen by letting it sit in rice !
After viewing the listing photo and seeing it looks the same in it, I'm not sure if it's moisture or if the slab is just somehow more of a white color rather than clear!

I guess I just thought the slab was laying on something white in the listing photos , as I really didn't pay a lot of addition ..
Instead of being clear it's this white color ! image.jpg image.jpg

Send it back to ICG and tell them to fix their leaky slab, thats the only way to really fix it ....

That's the ticket. Cover one hole with a hundred holes. Pure genius!:D

Ya, but it won't hurt when you take it off, and will be easy to do, because its a band-aid .. Lol ..

Well I'm trying to figure out a way to remove what looks to be moisture from inside of the slab!
These icg slabs are usually clear but this one is almost white in the area around the coin ..
I've got it in a container with rice with a dessicant...

I believe this is probably what I'm thinking is moisture , since all the other icg slabs I have are clear or somewhat clear..
I was looking at coins in icg slabs last night on eBay and here and there would be one with this white look..
So I've probably been worrying myself for nothing!
I feel a bit silly for thinking this , in my defense these holders do look a lot like something that has drawn moisture..

That white part doesn't look like moisture to me but you have it.

It really don't at all In the photos !
You would just have to see it in hand , there are clear spots here and there, with what look like tiny bubbles scattered around, add that in with the hazy milky color .. It fooled me!
