    Howdy again folks.

I PROMISE not to bring up cleaning this time!

Having somewhat decided what direction I might take in coin collecting, I now have some pounds of world coins to dispose of. I'm inclined to post them on E-bay (where I bought them from in the first place).

What's the best way to do this? Of course I want the best price I can get, in order to have $ to buy what I really want.

Should I just lump them in a sack and sell them that way? (Basicly how I bought them)
Should I load the best into 2x2's and ID them as a value added service?
Should I sell them sorted by nation or other grouping?

I guess I'm asking, what would folks like to see best?

OR......... should I wait till a local coin show and haul them there?

    Thoughts?

Well this is a general answer.

Usually you can get more money by the piece. Now this includes effort on the sellers part. Each coin should be properly attributed, graded, and priced. Sometimes it is not cost effective to flip each coin.

As far as where the best place to market the coins, a lot will depend on what you have. Common coins sell easily on ebay. Tough dates and countries would probably bring more at a show.

    Good Luck!

Art. Are you going to mention in your ebay description anything about cleaned coins? Hee, hee. Sorry, but you know.

I buy a lot of world coins on EBay - primarily Japanese - and if the auction doesn't include pictures large enough and clear enough to (1) date the coin without relying on the seller's guess, and (2) get a reasonable estimate of the grade, I don't bid. Period!
