I'm not much on grading these, but I CAN tell you that the contrast has been jacked up on those pictures. There may actually be less detail on the coin, in hand.
cappedBust: What grade are they assigning it? As is it may be an unc, but????? Is it slabbed? I don't think that it is AT.
that is about what i put it at, au53-55. if my memory serves me right, this was in an ngc au55 holder and i suspect it was a failed attempt at cross or upgrade...[from one of the previous owner's reputation].
I saw that coin listed for sale and thought it appeared to be AU and nice looking. But, images rarely show enough about how a coin really looks for me to think it makes sense to buy one of that value when it is uncertified and in an auction. For example, problems such as cleaning, hairlines, marks, etc. often don't show show up in images. It would be different if I could get it sent on approval from the owner or buy in a non-auction situation with a full return privilege.
But you asked about grade and value, the latter, in particular, which can't really be determined from other than an in-hand inspection.
