    Hello everyone
I was wondering if anyone knows about any possible errors in the 2005 mint set.
I just finished looking through my early sets and noticed that the quality of the satin finish is poor.

In one Philly sleeve, the dime appears to be missing the satin finish on the fields of the obverse.
The Oregon quarter is missing the finish completley on the obverse.

In another set , the D Oregon quarter is missing this layer on the reverse.
In the same pack, one quarter looks spotted as if the finish was sprayed on.
Another quarter seems to be missing layers on the fields and bust.Almost like acid was dripped on it.

I just recieved my sets that I ordered late in Nov.,and noticed that the quality is much better.

Im wondering if I've really found something . Or should I send these back?

One more question. How exactely is the satin finish applied?

    TIA CLAW

The satin finish is due to the way the dies are prepared. On coins where part of the surface has the satin finish and part does not it is because the surface of the die has worn down.

As for the quarter that seems to be missing layers - post pics if you can.

What about the quarter missing this layer completely on one side?
It looks like a regular business srike on one side, and the other side looks normal.

Would it be worth it to send it in to be slabbed?

Any and all help will be appreciated. CLAW

If it really is missing the clad layer yeah it probably would be worth getting it slabbed. But that's why I asked if you could post a pic. You see, there are other reasons the coin may "look" like it is missing a clad layer when it really isn't. And if it is one of those things - then no, it is not worth getting slabbed.

Can you post a pic of the coin ?
