Nice! What you have there is a Clipped Planchet Error. It's a complete coin missing. You got a good one there. If it is MS-63 it's value would be great!! Can you show us the back? B12

For the grade I wouldn't say MS-63.I would say between VF-20 and EF-40.No higher than EF-40,but the Clipped Planchet would raise the value a little more.I can't give you the value because my book doesn't go lower than MS-63,but definitely woth more than face value. Nice coin though!! B12

Anyone else but me think it might be a fake error? Just doesn't look right to me. It's probably real, but you have to be realcareful with these.

    This may help.

A real good indicator may be a wide rim directly across from the clip across from the clip. Can't see this with the cropped photos.

There are a lot of clipped coins listed on e-bay. You could get a good indication of what it may be worth there.

    I would say it's worth $5 - $8 in uncirculated condition.

I think its real....but not UNC....I see some wear on the high points...more like XF/AU

Hi, I think it is real based on the look of the word QUARTER opposite the missing portion. What does look a little off is that the lettering where the incomplete part is should "flow" off the edge of the coin at that point. he letters and details are too crisp where the "clip" is. Without seeing the coin first hand, i would caution that even though it has some of the right characteristics and I think it could be a real incopmplete planchet error, it could be a fake.

It looks like post mint damage to me - the metal doesn't appear to flow into the clip.

I am certain this is a genuine curved clip. The design rim fades out toward the clip, there is metal flow in the letters that lie next to the clip, and there appears to be a modest Blakesly effect at the pole opposite the clip.
