Good evening. I just picked this up today at a show and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I think it is the "Zionist Organization of America" from 1955, but I can not find any information on it anywhere on the web.

I figured out the year from this Hebrew Calendar Conversion Chart but that is all that I could figure out at all. I believe the writing is Aramaic of some sort.

Any answers would be great as to history and/or value. I picked it up for $4.00.

    Thanks

Reverse: "sheqel Israel Shenat Beit" , Meaning

"ISRAELI SHEQEL YEAR 2" (OF THE REBELLION AGAINST THE ROMANS, 66 -73 AD) YEAR 2 IS 67 AD. A MODERN DATE ADDED (5)755 = 1955
OBVERSE : "YERUSHALAYIM HAQEDOSHAH" , MEANS : "HOLY JERUSALEM"
THE "COIN " IS A REPLICA OF THE SILVER ISRAELI SHEQEL OF 67 AD. THAT COIN WAS MADE FOR TOURIST. A REAL SHEQEL WAS MADE OF SILVER , WEIGHT: 220 GRAINS OF WHEAT OR 320 BARELY GRAINS, 14.34 GRAMS. VALUE: 2250 USA $. pictures:

    Todah Gilad,

Thanks for the Aramaic translation. I do realize this is a contemporary copy of the piece found on the Rosenblum website, but I am still looking for information and possible the value of the piece. ... if any. I don't think it is a tourist piece. I am surprised I can not find it anywhere else on the web.

Coin Language Is Pure Hebrew , And About

Rosenblum's coin , it is a CLEANED coin from year 3 (68 AD). As for cleaned antique coins , I refer with caution. I am not so expert about disninguishing between real coins and forged coins if the picture or the coin look so beautiful. The only coin I have from this series is one copper Prutah , of year 2 (67 AD) which is a common coin. About half of all copper coins of the History of Israel are forged. We collectors must get error off centered used coins to find the authentic coins.
