Any help with this possible error of Sacagawea 2000 P

    I came across this in a bank in PA, and it looks to have been made with the same materials as a penny, I have looked up and down if it is a printing error, we have 100% checked it with the banking machines as a real coin, any info would be greatly appreciated, hopefully it isn't just one heck of a job by someone dying it some how, Thanks in advance

    Frankly, the coin looks messed with.

    I would weigh it. Could have been in or on the ground for a while.

    2000 was the first year for the Sac Dollar and this became a common problem for the new manganese-based coin. Many of them were turning a "puke green or brown" and it was determined that it was due to an improper wash & rinse of the planchets.

    It is not considered an error.
