Hey guys, I recently picked up a number of coins in the 100 BC range and this one was part of the group. Has a slight cupping shape to it (one side much better preserved), and as near as I can tell, it is celtic silver -- guessing 50-100 BC. Is 0.85 grams. Looks to be a prancing horse with a sun over it? The design looks similar to a Quinarius from The Rhineland, but appears to be about half of that weight. Also saw a British quarter stater from the same time perod that was the same weight with a similar elements. As you can tell, I'm completely unfamiliar with this type of coin and totally guessing. Any thoughts? Thanks!
After digging around more, I think I've answered my own question. I have decided it is from the Atrebates tribe of Britain, again around 50 BC. The attribution appears to be Van Arsdell Number 292-1 (VA-292-1). Here's a page of other coins so classified. Interesting. If anyone has other thoughts, please let me know! http://www.celticcoins.ca/vanarsdell.php?tribe=ATR&van=292-1
