Ok thanks for the proof read guys...should be all together now. Please see the exception in Element #2 in Green Regards, RickieB
from what i read, the Smilie family were all engravers. The father, 3 sons and a wife. SO it wasnt just a father-son duo.. but rather a father-family group

Contest was fun and I learned a few new things as well. Found myself looking up the answers to questions that weren't even asked! Thanks for having the contest!
James Smillie was the father of James D, Smillie and William Maine Smillie...W.C. Smillie was his brother. The diaries of James D. Smillie say that 1 month before the death of his father, he was instructed on how to finish the vignette "Lions at Home" by Rosa Bonheur. Go figure huh?? For what it is worth...get the Book The Engravers Line!! Incredibile!! RickieB
i am big on the engravings, not so much on the folks who did them. Not sure why. i can however, stare at the engravings for what seems like hours!!!!!
Thanks RickieB. The time restraint made this very challenging. It also helped to make it informable. Had to scan alot of info so, like Dursin, I learned things not pertaining to the contest as well. You are an excellent teacher! Have fun at Disney and hope your surgery goes smoothly.
So, how does everything think they did? Maybe we can come up with a good 'guess' as to who won. If I had to guess for myself...well, if I were in school and this was a test, I'd be hoping for a B, but think I probably wound up with a C...hopefully a C+
for the COPE question, i gave this fully detailed answer to what COPE was ... he didnt ask what the anagram 'COPE' stood for lol so i gave him exactly what it was lol maybe extra credit??
I think I gave both answers for COPE...what it stands for and what it is. The only question where I failed miserably was question 3 on element 1...unfortunately that was like a 4-parter.
