another recarved quarter..

    This is the second of a series of 5 silver quarters i,m carving for a collector, they all will have the same clothing, but each will have different face, hat, etc...

    Is there special tools you use to do the hobo's? I have tinkered around with it a bit but would like more infor of how you do it. Tdec1000

    I use the same tools as the knife and gun engravers use, microscope, gravers, sanding stones, engraver,s vise..But when i started i only used a small hammer, very small chisel, opivisor, etc..The way to start carving coins, unless you,ve a extra 7 to 8 thousand dollars to spend start with the basics and sell your carvings and invest the money in better tools..Anyone who has a desire to carve coins can hollar at me anytime...

    Nice Hobo quarter...I thought people normally did them on nickels ?!

    You need to factor in inflation, and then it makes sense.
