I'm unsure about the PVC content of slide holders, and I'd like to avail myself of this forum's collective wisdom. I have many coins stored in cardboard 2x2s, which in turn I keep in slide holders in a three-ring binder. I don't know the brand of slide holder, but I think they're all common office-supply types like C-Line. This seems to be how many dealers store merchandise on their shelves. Do you think this constitutes a PVC threat to my coins?
Before I knew better, I had stored a few coins directly in the pockets of a PVC album page. Within a few months I found the beginnings of damage, specifically on the rims. On the other hand, I have coins which have been in album pages inside of 2x2s for years, with no sign of damage. It seems to take direct coin-PVC contact for damage to occur.
I have had coins in PVC flips for years (not any more) but I didn't have any PVC on the coins...I think it was because they were in a cool place....it didn't get hot and I think that made for a good storage... Speedy
