    Pictured is a 1787 Republic of Vermont Britannia copper that I also obtained in the last week.

    Based on diagnostics, I'm rather confident that this specimen is a RR-13 / Bressett 17-V / W-2255.

    Particulars of this specimen include:

    • Machin's Mills issue;
    • The majority of the reverses for this issue have very worn lettering, presumably because the dies used were intentionally ground down to give a worn appearance, or were used first to mass produce counterfeit English halfpence and then used for minting Vermonts;
    • Rarity: URS-12 - 1250 known specimens exist.
    I spotted the same variety in very similar condition (Choice Fine) online last night for around $450... I paid half of that! :)

    Any comments and thoughts about it are appreciated and welcomed!

    Nice one, the RR13 is one of my favorites with it's connection to the counterfeit British halfpence.

    Very nice looking! Fascinating history behind those, and you got it for a great price.
