You all were so helpful last time my metal detecting exploits brought me to you, I thought I'd try again. There's an old home site near my house that I've been hunting for months. (Not where I found the half-pence you helped me with before.) Today I found what I thought was half of a flat button, but when I got it home and looked at it carefully, it seems to be covered with some kind of Asian writing! WHAT? My friend was hunting not far from me and she dug a silver Spanish reale 2-bit piece. I've pulled colonial-era buttons, buckles, etc. out of this site, so this is not any kind of contemporary souvenir coin. It may not be possible to identify it, but if anyone can, you can. If you need the flip side, just let me know. It's even harder to read tho. Any ideas, O CoinTalkers? THANKS. Whit Dirt Girl Unleashed
It's half of an India-Bengal Presidency Pice. No date but 1800s. http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...ory=132133&worldcoinid=333609&FromSearch=true
Unbelievable... Yes, that is exactly what it is. WHAT was that doing in the ground of an old homesite near Nashville? And cut in half, no less. Thank you, by the way!
