I picked this up in the recent Agora auction but decided not to post it until I could examine it in-hand and try to determine the undertype but unfortunately the most I can tell is that it is Roman. What I thought was cool about it, aside from the fact that you don't see many semises from this series of overstrikes, is that the result of the overstrike makes it look like the galley is sinking. It's not quite as cool as Steve's Thomas the Train but it's the most dramatic overstrike I've been able to add the collection so far. The coin has some metal issues but for $25 + juice it was just too interesting to pass up.

    563Semis.jpg
Roman Republic Æ Semis(24mm, 10.52g, 2h). Anonymous, after 211 BC. Mint in Southern Italy, Sardinia or Sicily. Laureate head of Saturn right, S behind/Prow of galley right, S above, ROMA below. Overstruck on unknown Roman Æ. Cf. Crawford 56/3; McCabe Group H1(anonymous halfweight overstrikes).

That sinking ship is very interesting, and $25 bucks seems to be a great price.
