I just purchased another Empress that I was missing----A Follis of Galeria Valeria; she was the daughter of Diocletian and the wife of Galerius. According to Wikipedia, after Galerius' death, she refused the marriage proposal of Maximinus who arrested her and had her imprisoned in Syria while confiscating her property. At the death of Maximinus, Licinius ordered her death. Valeria fled, hiding for a year in Thessaloniki until found, captured by a mob, beheaded in the central square and her body thrown in the sea.

This coin appears better in hand than the sellers photos and has superb surfaces, although the obverse (and reverse) appear to be struck from a slightly worn die.

Galeria Valeria Augusta, AD 293-(?)311 AD. AE Follis. Cyzicus Mint. Struck 308-309 AD
GAL VAL AVG, pearl diademed and draped bust right.
VENERI VICTRICI. Venus standing, facing, head left, holding an apple and raising drapery over her shoulder.
    Ric 46; 26.8 mm, 7.79 grams

Ok ladies men and ALL others, post what you have.

A somewhat "difficult" empress with a very severe portrait most often

I wish mine had been struck from a newer die and not missing as much detail that all the others here display.

    Poor woman!

Did you mean ladies and men or the plural form of "ladies-man?" If you did that's funny!

    Welcome to CoinTalk!

Now eere I go...steering this thread right off topic...

I'm not trying to be rude. I always consider it crass or in bad form, generally speaking, to ask how much someone's coin costs. This isn't a rule but a guideline as different situations will make this acceptable. It irks me when I show off a coin to a non-collector, but someone who is interested and the first question is always. "How much was that?" Even worse is when they ask me how much I've spent. This might just be me though.

Please excuse my rant. The meds made me do it!
