    Hi,

I am sifting through a large collection of modern and oldish coins to be sold. Most are European/colonial or at least have some Latin characters but I need some help with these. The variations are endless and I'm not sure what I'm looking at, even comparing with eBay auctions:

    Any assistance gratefully received!

13 Chinese cash coins, and 1 Japanese (second row, second from left).

None of them appear to be rare. The probability is very high that they are all 19th century brass castings.

Thanks so much. I'm doubting this one now that I had categorised as Japanese, can you tell me if it is actually Chinese?

I could ID them individually if you post a higher resolution pic.

If you mouse over the image, they go big.

With the Manchu characters on the reverse (1st picture) it certainly is.

Thanks guys, was late here when you posted so I was off to bed already. Are you sure the res isn't good enough? It seems at least as good as the example in your post unless I'm missing something? Try the direct links:

I don't want to put you to any bother if they're low value and probably will sell them as a job lot but it would be cool to be able to specify what they are.

OK, a couple more. I think this is 10 cash but can anyone date it for me?

And a date for this one, 100 Mon (Japan) right?

    Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Your undated Tenpo Tsuho 100 mon was cast sometime between 1835 and 1869.

Typically it should weigh about 21.75g. If it is about 20.6g it was cast in early 1835.

Thanks again. I have presumably inaccurate kitchen scales which register it at 18g so it's hard to say.

I have another couple that I can't date here, I'm guessing the second one is 10 cash:
