My 1831 Capped Bust Quarter arrived yesterday.
    I think it's a Browning 2.
I'll pack it up with the 1837 Capped Bust Quarter (B-4?) and ship them off to PCGS for attribution.
If I'm correct that will bring my count up to 31; five more to go.
I don't have to worry about PCGS labeling them GENUINE since they are already in PCGS holders as original.

As for the 5 that I'm missing -- well -- they will be tough to impossible.
The rarity numbers (according to Tompkins) are 4+, 5, 5+, 6+ and 8.
There are only 2 or 3 (depending on the source) of the R-8 variety known.

    Now the question.
The 1831 has a CAC sticker.
Since PCGS will have to re-holder it to add the attribution to the label I will lose the "green bean".
How would you deal with that?

It's my understanding that CAC will sticker it again but I don't know the process.

Yes they will if you just get it reholdered the cert number will stay the same. Just contact CAC explaining what you did and they will CAC it again for like $2 I believe.

    Thanks for the responses.
I've had other coins with a CAC sticker reholdered and didn't follow up on getting them re-CAC'ed.
That leads to a followup question.
Is there an online searchable CAC database that would allow me to find those coins?

    Yes here is the link:
    http://www.caccoin.com/look-up-your-coins/

As long as the cert number is the same it will show up and you can send them to get re-CACed for only a few bucks. Assuming the grade and cert number are the same, or you are out of luck.

The issue you will have is that I don't think the cert number will stay the same if you have them add the attribution. Call CAC and ask them what to do.

That's what will likely happen. I had a PCGS coin re-holdered and upgraded to PCGS secure in December and the cert no changed.

    Woo Woo!!!
I think I've found another of my missing varieties.
It's only a F-12 but it IS in a regular (original surfaces) PCGS holder.
I'm paying more than retail BUT it's an R-5 (31 to 75 known).

    Works for me :)

  11. Congrats, I am sure very few people have as complete of a set as you.

I'd love to do a dog-and-pony show but my slabs are a mixture of NGC and PCGS.
And NGC doesn't allow Registry Sets with mixed TPG's anymore.
I haven't looked into NGC Custom Sets since the change.
Maybe I could build those and forget about rankings.

I had 12 NGC Registry Sets and 3 Custom Sets until NGC made the change.
    I removed them all.
Never considered that mixed TPG Custom Sets would be okay.
I'll have to look into that instead of trying to build my own website.

If memory serves me, once the cert number changes (which it will) you have to resubmit them to CAC under the normal tier since they don't know for sure that it is the same coin. What you can do though is include a note with the submission about how they were previously stickered and you had them sent in for attribution and include the old cert labels with it.

I sent CAC a message asking about re-stickering a previously CAC'ed coin now in a new holder.
I'll post their response if/when it arrives.

    The response has arrived.
    Here 'tis:

"Thank you for your email. Yes, you will have to submit through one of our submission centers listed on our web site. Typically we ask that you take a color scan of the coin in its current holder before sending off to PCGS or NGC for variety review. When you send the coin back to us you should include the color scan. This helps us identify the coin and keeps the POP report accurate.

The cost is $3.00 if the cert number remains the same. If the cert number changes the fee is $13.50 for coins valued under $10,000 or $27 for coins valued over $10,000. The submission center may charge a shipping and handling fee.
    "

So, I probably won't jump through the hoops.
Time, effort and cost makes it not worth it.
Of course that means their POP report won't be accurate.
They will have a record of a slab that no longer exists or exists without the bean.
