Here is the other package I got today. Not a variety. Just a plain 1911-S. What grade would you give it and what grade do you thing PCGS gave it? BTW, I think it is graded conservatively.

man this is a tough coin - the reverse is mighty nice, but the obverse, not as nice. VF-35 is probably the technical grade but PCGS went with an XF.

I'll go with MS61 brown - I can't tell in some places if it is glare or wear. But it looks nice to me.

I am going to say Au 58. The obverse is weaker (XF 45), but the reverse is stronger (MS 62).

I took into mind that as I know it. 1911 was one of those years when there was alot of weak strike. Someone who knows Linocln history better might agree. Im not 100% sure.

Id like to know aswell. Also After looking a little more. Im thinking MS60BN because the Reverse is so strong. It makes me think that its a good example of the reverse die pounding so had the the obverse die is just worn out. lol

    WHATS THE GRADE ALREADY???

Most of the "weak strike" is my pictures. Most of the hairs on the beard are there. It is not as strong a strike as my AU-53, but I definitely would not call it a weak strike. This picture shows the detail a little better, at least I think so.

the strike does not appear weak to me at all, look at all the lettering, even the O in One is hit pretty darn good.

I agree with the PCGS grade on this and am a bit suprised at some of the guesses so far actually

Given the pics, and no offense in that regard rlm, I'm not surpised at all that the grade guesses are all over the place. I wouldn't even try to guess myself.
