Recently back from ANACS. Guess the grade of this 1898-O Morgan.

MS-64... I think the marks on Liberty's nose, cheek and chin are holding it back. Also a few marks in the field on the reverse above the eagle might hold it down...

A very nice coin for an "O" mint. It looks like it might be in the early stages of some attractive toning, too...

I'm basing my guess on this PCGS graded 1884-O which was given a 64 and it's beat to heck :(

lots of bagmarks on the observe, reverse looks a lot cleaner(typical).
Im thinking low mint state, possibly MS61-62.

ANACS is tough on Morgans (correctly, IMO), but it's a great strike for New Orleans. I'm thinking MS64 because of the strike, but 63 wouldn't surprise me.

I know it's difficult to grade with scans. I developed my own film for 20 years but still can't take a photo of a coin. Always use my scanner. Guess it's time to practice.

The only one that got it right was GDJMSP. Oh, he didn't even respond to this thread?!? I posted the coin a year ago when I purchased a roll of 98-O Morgans (thread). He guessed MS65. It went to ANACS and that what they gave it.

Well I see the grade ANACS gave it but by looking at the photos I would agree.
The cheek is great...the eagle is great and since that is a O mint coin....I would totaly agree with the MS65.

I've sent four coins from this roll to ANACS. Three came back MS64, one MS65. I have another that might make 64, the rest I sold at a show so I could buy more coins.

I think it's time for a contest/giveaway!!! Check the Contest section.

Had a job like that once - unfortunately it didn't pay well enough to buy shoes for a kid who outgrows them before you can get them home from the store :vanish:

At size 10 1/2 I don't think my feet will get much larger...but my legs keep getting longer...so its not the shoes...its the pants....
In the last few years its been pounds too but I'm hoping that quits soon......that way I don't get too big to fit in the door at the coin shop ;)

Well my young friend let me put it to ya this way. He just barely turned 14 - he's 6' 4", 160 lbs - and the new shoes I just got him Sat. were 13's. I don't dare think of the new clothes - top to bottom - I have to buy every 6 weeks because the last ones are already too small

I'll get back on topic now

Well I won't post my stats but lets just say that he's alitttle bigger than me
But I have friends like him...and even though they are younger...they weigh more and can get me down in about 5 min.... ...so we try to stay friends :thumb:

Isn't it nice when you pull out that ONE coin that was the gem...it makes you feel sooo much better
I was pulling out my first shipping of coins that ANACS sent back and when that MS66 Morgan came out.... ....
