I picked up a few more FH. This one's a barbarous imitation and an overstrike at 1.80g, 18mm. Not sure if the host was an official coin or not. Maybe a city commemorative? Another shield variant from Cyzikus with a little silvering left. And 2 of Gallus from Alexandria.
That barb FH is a total mess, I love it! Interesting coin for sure RG! Here's my CG from Rome... Constantius Gallus, 351-354 AD, AE3 O: D N FL CL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, Draped and cuirassed bust right, R: FEL TEMP-REPARATIO, Soldier spearing fallen horseman who is bare-headed, reaching backwards. Mintmark R(?), Rome mint. 20 mm, 2.6 g. RIC IX Rome 274 var
im bored with those. I have so many coins from the Constantinian dynasty. They all look the same and you can get the coins for a song
Although I leave these for @randygeki, I don't find them boring. I look for the small differences and details that distinguish each from the other.
Yes but they ever everywhere! Constantine Dynasty was like the largest in Roman History. Millions and Millions of Constantinian coins are floating around( especially the sons)
That Cyzikus is spectacular randygeki, also the bottom Alexandria has nice eye appeal, great pick up.
What a great barb. 'TIVAVG' is a bit like Constantius II. Do you have any idea where it comes from? Coins like this are very rare, it's hard to find a coin that's a bit like it.
What bores me is people who tell other people that what they collect isn't worthy of interest. Ignore.
The fact that there are so many LRB's is what makes being a specialist possible. Due to so many reverses with different engravers, collectors can focus on any number of details. These details are what elevate coins that seem common to some.
I thought I'd add my Falling Horseman as well. I only have one. I believe it is: Constantius II, AD. D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO, Soldier standing right, right leg raised, spearing a fallen horseman who is bare-headed, reaching backwards As for the the mint, I "think" it is Sirmium but I'm not sure. Heck, I'm probably completely wrong on the whole thing
