Nope So the ancient board on CT is a really special place. It gives a place to talk about and show off ancients with like minded folks. We can all come together and share our love for the hobby, share our knowledge and enthusiasm with each other. We tip each other off on coins and help find information about them. If that wasn't enough, we gift coins to each other. A truly pleasant group of friends. So I'd like to thank you all, with a special thanks to the last 3 members to give me a coin, and a big thanks to everyone else not mentioned. Thank you @Mat @dougsmit @jamesicus ! Yay, great to see you showing off some Alexandrian tets. I love your collection of fallen horsemen, but some nice tets will really go a long way towards rounding that collection. Out of all provincial tets, Alexandrians are my favorite. I've only got two but I will definitely be getting more next year. As for your second tet, I dont know enough to say whether its a modern fake or a contemporary counterfeit, but either way that was a very generous gift. Here is a tet from Antioch which was generously gifted to me by @Cucumbor . I really love this coin.
The title of this thread is "click bait" I opened it expecting another FEL TEMP. Instead I find this really uplifting thread with some pretty Egyptians.
While many of us have benefited in the form of generous gifts of coins, I like to think the best thing we get from CT is knowing other people who share our passion for ancient coins. When I lived in Washington, DC, I greatly enjoyed meetings of a local ancients only coin club but now we have a few thousand miles between us making these online postings the best we have. Now, now, lets not be too limiting of what we call 'pretty Eqyptians'. The below are both what I'd include even though Commodus forgot to mention FEL TEMP in his legend.
I enjoy the postings here, the knowledge gained, the variety of people, and interesting coins. Above all, I enjoy the friendships. @ancientcoinguru gave me a cool Thessaly Larissa Obol, as she knew the focus on Philip II of Makedon that I enjoy, and how this coin was integral in a period of Makedon-Thessaly strife: Thessaly Larissa 344-337 BCE AR Obol 0.68g Nymph Larissa Horse Grazing SNG Cop 1
Thanks guys! and great coins. It's definitely nice to have others to talk with about ancients. I wonder how different our collecting habits would be if we didn't have CT or other forums. We are exposed to so much knowledge and many awesome coins here.
