So I was looking for some info on a British coin I had, and the Google ad bar popped up. Sure enough, there was an Etsy ad. https://www.etsy.com/listing/832912...MI2rjqz5az7AIVpB-tBh0RRQtAEAQYCCABEgLdnfD_BwE Hahahahaha Yes, it's a 1985. Yes, it's unique. If some idiot damages different coins, no two will look the same. No, it's not rare. There are plenty of damaged, mutilated coins out there. No, it's not worth $50,000. Yes, there's a fool or scammer who thinks this is worth 50 grand.
WoW , That's bad. Is it or isn't illegal to make your own coins of well known errors ? Check this one out .https://www.etsy.com/listing/825071...allery-1-6&organic_search_click=1&frs=1&bes=1
I was looking at the seller's other garbage and this pop-up notice appeared on the bottom which made it even more funnier!
Made in China fake. They don't care Looks neat though. I would purchase one for that price just as a novelty item.
There sure are a lot of "rare coins" with a 50k price tag on that site. Wonder what is so magical about a 50k asking price to these crooks?
I am like you. I want to believe that all folks are good. Over time though I have come to regard these crazy Etsy ads as a cancer that makes it difficult for young collectors to enter and enjoy the hobby. I don't hold these people in a very high regard in my mind.
Like you, I would like to believe all people are good-BUT-after 20 years in law enforcement and Homicide I HAVE SERIOUS DOUBTS!
Heck, give it ten years or so and all Old Abe's Zinc coins will look just like that. "Stupid is what Stupid does, Forest."
nothing magical - just greedy (guess they want their 'extraordinary' coin to have an extraordinary asking price) - $100K would be silly and $5k would be lost among all the other $5k 'super rare error' coins Another tactic is to slash the asking price price from $45,000 to $33,750 and post an estimated value of $80,000 for this rare and wonderful 1963-O nickel https://www.etsy.com/listing/778710...son?ref=pla_similar_listing_bot-6&pro=1&frs=1
