Sorry I can't provide you with pictures, but I've recently got a load of coins down from the shelf. I have alot of "penny-colored" 1943 pennies that may be copper. Yes, I've tested them with a magnent and none of them look fake. I've also examined the dates and most of them have extended 3's like real pennies. Just wanted some opionions.

On another note, There were also four 1943 walking liberty half dollars. Is there anything special about that certain year on any mint?

First off, a picture is worth 1,000 words. You still have about 990 to go.
You tested the with a magnet and............?
Penny colored - does that mean copper colored?

Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of US and Colonial Coins, pg.231 relates "about 40" 1943's bronze cents are known. With about "about 6" with the S mint mark and "about 24" with D mintmark. My best opinion would be to have them authenticated by a major third party grader. Yes, there is a cost involved, see pcgs.com for an example of what would be involved.

On the 1943 Walkers, nothing really special unless they are in the upper grades, MS 63 or better.

    Just my two cents worth....

Your numbers do not agree with mine - 1943-D anyway

My reference book was dated 1988, and I do not guarantee the accuracy of Mr. Breen's work. Just providing information, that very well may have been superseeded by more accurate research. Either way, the OP can decide to invest in authentication, or not.

I would suggest taking it to a coin dealer to heave him look at it. it is very ease to plate a coin with copper or any other metal. You just need some know how. Anyone that has taken General chemistry in college has the know how.
