What is everyone's take on this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/1879-5C-SHIELD-...ryZ11952QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I tend to never trust anything coming from China. I would think if it were a real 1879 nickel, there'd be mre than two "private" bids up to this point, and the seller would have to be a complete fool to sell it on Ebay in the first place. But, maybe the guy is just an idiot and I'm wrong.

I would say it's a real coin and a hijacked picture.

I don't know, it may be a hijacked picture, (as Shortgapbob said), but:

    Item location: China, China

High bidder: User ID kept private

The 1) China and 2) the user kept private bothers me more.

In baseball its three strikes and out.

    Here we have
    1. A brand new
    2. Chinese seller
    3. Using private ID.

The coin pictured is real, I wouldn't bid on it though for reasons metioned above.

    Lets think about this:
He has only 5 feedbacks, all from Chinese sellers/buyers
    2) all of the feedbacks are from people with under 100 (max= 71) most under 25 feedbacks.
    3) the only US coins sold have no pictures, or they have been deleted.
    4) All sales (other than those in #3) are Chinese coins sold or bought from Chinese sellers/buyers.
    5) And one of the feed backs is fro 2 1943 steel cents, paid some stupid amount.

    Can you say shill bidding?

    Now for his current sales:
    1909 S Indian, in AU.

1922 NO D PLAIN LINCCOLN CENT -- the strongest strike for a 22 plain in history.
    1917 S Unc Buffalo
    1921 S Unc Buffalo.

    Can you spell fake?
    Time to get him narued.

I thought as much. I always go by the simple rule, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Not a motto I see Ebay adopting any time soon.

I second the motion and while you're at it would you buy a nice, lead based painted Elmo doll from this seller?

CHINA = SCAM until the U.S. really catches on.

    Bump,
After a second look I am going to change my original statement. The coin is definitely counterfeit. Note how the date looks and the rims.

Apparently someone here helped to eliminate another fake.
Thanks to everyone who reported this joker.

Does anyone have his seller id?

It appears that all of his items are gone!
