I'm always looking at these little coins with an eye towards increasing my holdings with reverses I do not have and which are affordable. I found this one at an extremely good price and which also has a kinda interesting pedigree (if you can call it that). This coin is one of many that will be featured as a plate coin (plate #53) in a soon to be published catalogue (Summer 2015) written by Ronny R. Shraer entitled "The Symbols On Hemidrachm".

I don't have one of these and don't even know why that's the case since I look at them whenever they appear in the auction pages. I sure wouldn't at all mind to have yours in my collection... I like the lion as well as the olive branch. Nice pickup!

These are really interesting coins, I find the reverse variations fun to look at. May add one to my collection too, holding out for one in good condition.

I have a couple. The second one was relatively recently added and I don't think I've shown it here before. I wish the obverse was a bit better on the second coin but the lizard is very nice. I bought it in honor of Andy the Anole :D.

Ruh roh... as I was composing this post I checked Forvm's Fake Gallery because the second coin looks a bit off. However, now I'm questioning the first coin too! The obverse looks fine to me but the reverse might be a die match to a known fake. I tried to overlay the reverses in Photoshop and while very close, they don't perfectly line up. That could be due to photo angle though. Hmm. Opinions, anyone?

I don't finding anything online which concretely condemns this second coin but it worries me a little too.

I don't think those are die matches TIF. Close, but not a match IMHO.

Another worrisome thing though is that the reverse combination of coin #1 is not on Barry Murphy's site. (dot AΓ ligate, pentagram)

Nice coin for sure, Bing. I've seen a lot of them but they often go too high in price for me. I hear there are a lot of fakes for these coins as well.

great new lion-addition (congrats) ... man, you're getting quite the collection of those cute lil' buggers, eh? (good job)

I only have this grungy humble example ...

Ooops sorry, apparently I was kinda missing one of the sub-conversations => sadly TIF, your example looks pretty damn close to that fake (*rats*) ... but it might not be exactly the same (definitely worth chasing-down a second opinion)

Man, you're right, TIF, the two reverses do look disturbingly close. Not sure if it's an exact match though. You may want to get more opinions on this one.
