Thought I would share this nice Choice CU $100 Note with you today...its my latest addition to the collection I have just started about 3 months ago...Series 1934 A Thanks for looking.. RickieB
Hey Nathanscoins... Thanks for taking a look. I have my sights set on a New York $500 as well. Ihave priced it and it will take a whopping 2K for the note I want!! My paper money goal is to put together the New York district in all series! What a goal..it is a huge undertaking . I did the same thing with the AGE, ASE, and APE series. Not finished with those either...have a lot of platinum to get!!!:hammer: :hammer: work work work... The paper is truly unique and I hope to get it assembled within 2-3 years. Good hunting to you. If you have any cool sites that you know of share them please...I will do the same. RickieB
I bought a CU KC $100 FRBN. I have both Richmond and Minneapolis $100 FRBN`s in VF. $500, $1000 FRN`s are a good buy. I think the $100 and above notes are underrated for their scarcity. I will buy $100 FRNB`s over the next couple years. Try for better CU notes......
Hey bzcollector.... I am new at currency collecting. I do not have any FRBN's yet. My goal is to get one of very New York notes issued from every series including Stars ** from 1914 through 2004. I hope I can do it... Long long way to go...so off to work I go!! RickieB BTW..post some pics of the FBRN you have..will be :kewl: cool to see them...:kewl:
Hi RikieB I apoligize for not posting a pic of my CU $100 FRBN. I said I would a few months ago. I believe the Brown Seal FRBN`s are the most underated of all small size notes. As you may know, the FRBN`s were issued in late March 1933 in response to the banking, currency and GOLD crisis of1933. Of course we all know gold was recalled, and private ownership of gold coins was outlawed by President Roosevelt in 1933. The Federal Reserve Notes of 1928 (Green Seal) series contained the payment clause "payable in gold". I beleive the reason for the (Brown Seal) FRBN`s (series 1929), issued in March 1933, was to bypass this gold clause in the green seal FRN`s of the several series of1928 FRN`in circulation. The next Series of Federal Reserve Notes was 1934. No payment clause tied to gold or silver. The Brown Seal FRNB`s of Series 1929 were the precursor of our modern day Federal Reserve Notes. The 1934 and 1950 series FRN`s were "payable in lawful money" HMMMMMM What was (is) lawful money??? Series 1963 and beyond FRN`s are payable in nothing. No such thing as a tangible asset payable in gold or silver or "lawful money" Our current currency is worth nothing more than the the fact that we all agree a dollar is worth a dollar. Only trouble is the Chinese and the Euro and a barrel of oil now decide what is a dollar. Go for the NY series of Notes!!!!!!!! It would be a great collection of notes to get all NY notes and stars!!!!!!
Hello bz collector and thanks for the post. No apology needed! I was just reading about the emergency issue of currency based off the old gold standard. You hit it right on the head! I just put on lay a way a $5 NY FRBN brown seal...it is a gem! It is currently raw and I plan on sending it in and will post some pics before and after when I get it paid for. I picked it up for $250.00. I do hope that my eagernees to collect this District did not mar my judgement on this note and overpay! We will see. If so, then chuck it up to inexperience but the note was worthy of getting on the spot in my opinion. Thanks again for the post..great information. RickieB
