This just wasn't being bid on and i just said the heck with it and put up the $10 for it. Maybe junk maybe real nice we will see in a few days
I love blurry picture gambles. My best score ever was from such an auction. Personally I see corrosion, but like you know you can never tell until its in hand!
Some you win some you lose. But playing the game can be fun as long it doesn't get into the deep water. Have actually made a few bucks by taking good images of them and putting them back out there.
thought it might be a bit of corrosion or even verdigris but for some reason that doesn't bother me as much on a 200 year old coin I kinda expect it. This has now turned into a "$20" cent album. Actualy so far putting together surprisingly nice set of large cents in that price range. As the set is for myself I don't mind a few coins with a little more then usual "history" behind them I know some of the coins I will never fill in the $20 bracket but so far so good have 1807/6 1831 1833 (above) 1844 1850 and 1851 all under the $20 price mark (ok so i paid $30 for the beat up 1807/6 but you get the idea) Oh and i believe the woman picked me up a 54 and 55 as an x-mas surprise but forgets i get e-mail notices when she uses the "house" card hehe Oops forgot 1828 as well lol (that was my 1st large cent hehe)
My large cent blurry picture story was an Ebay auction simply listed as "1812 coin and Bible". I got it for I believe $50. The pic was dark and nothing could be made out from either item. I gambled, and got a nice VF 1812 cent out of the deal. The real kicker was the bible. It was a rare US printed bible that I was able to donate to a local Lutheran seminary for their rare bible room. Got a tax deduction greatly in excess of the purchase price, so the 1812 cent in that gamble PAID me money to own it.
Well the coin arrived today and I am very happy with the condition of the coin though you will see another post about it shortly. Well worth the $10 i spent
