There's nothing wrong with bad eBay photos. Good eBay photos will almost guarantee higher bids. Good for the seller. Not so good to the buyer.
i agree, and i have had some good luck with bad photos in the past and have purchased coin far below their value
You have to be careful, some sellers intentionally take bad photos of coins to cover things like scratches or marks.
i am careful which is why i am picky about the ones i do buy. every now and then i have a hunch so i go for it.
You bet! One of my early victories was a group of 3 coins badly photographed and not Identified in the description. One was an Edward VII Half Sovereign - £120 worth of coin for £15 outlay!
The D in GOD looks smashed or smaller, which I'm guessing is why you thought it could be a small motto. Good luck with it! I found one on eBay for $7 UNIDENTIFIED 2 weeks ago. I resold it on eBay for $50 at auction. It was badly corroded, but I'll take $50 any day of the week!
I don't know about that. I have bought a slabbed coin in the past which looks terrible in the pic but really stunning in-hand so yeah, I know what you mean but I think it can go both ways really. A bad pic can hide scratches, details, or other problems which the buyer should be in the know about. This is especially true for raw coins.
i was look at the stem on the right of we. it looks to me it has the larger opening that the small motto has compared to the large
it came in today it was a large motto so i paid 16 bucks for a 10 dollar coin. i still think it was worth the shot
it is fun and something different. i did see a good photo of a small motto go the other day. i saw it at 6 bucks with about ten minutes left, so i put in 30 something dollars and of course i got sniped at the end.
I figure it helps satisfy my gambling. It's a lot cheaper than going to the casino. I actively seek out bad photos quite often. I also grab the photo and do some adjustments in software to see if I can see something interesting. This is very helpful for finding great toners as well.
