This Ancient Greek coin weighs 13 g. It's the heaviest among the bronze Seleucids I 've had so far. I still need to clean it a little bit. I would prefer to have your opinion about this coin on both ID and scarcity levels. Thanks.. Charles
You liked it first, and then you nag after. Some members and guests might like to watch it raw . We have all the time to clean it. I'm pretty sure the coin is not going to run away. We'd better chat and talk first. It's also a matter of fun.. Charles
7C, i think it's apollo on the obverse and reverse, there are several rulers who made that coin, so i'm not sure which. but that may give you a place to start, or one of the expert here will know exactly what it is probably.
Yes, Apollo. Archaic laureate head of Apollo right on obverse. Reverse is Apollo standing left, holding arrow in right hand, and resting left elbow on tripod. Issued by Seleukos IV Philopater, 187-175 BC.
I would love to collect more Seleucid bronze, but man the coins are tough to find in nice grades at a reasonable price. They obviously did the brunt work of the economy.
