I have been wanting a hammered gold coin for some time. It just so happens this king was also on my historical figures list, so I grabbed it. I believe it was only posted for sale yesterday. Yes, it has a little edge damage, but I really like the fine detail.

Please post your hammered coins or coins of English kings.

Edward III AV Quarter Noble (c.1361-1369AD) Spink 1513, Treaty-Period Calais Mint, Cross in Circle above shield. Bold, very fine detail, clipped with a little damage on one edge. (HHC4394)

What a great coin! Calais is always a hard mint for Edward III.

Hey @Orfew I came across a book on VCoins that seems to be fairly applicative to your Shakespeare themed collection. It was in the Charles Davis Numismatic Literature store. I know nothing of the book, but it sounds intriguing.

    Thanks @TheRed

I have been looking for a decently priced copy if that book. I ordered it. BTW did you know the author was a coin collector? I have a coin from his previous collection.

I hope the book is both informative and enjoyable, I thought out sounded really interesting. FitzNigel's medieval book thread would be a perfect place for a review.

I'm unfamiliar with the author, but love the Vespasian denarius. The fact that it's directly connected to a published author and known collector makes it even more of a gem.
