This was the left over from the bag. More modern coins 20231122_151408.jpg

It surprises me how much coinage was apparently used to adorn necklaces and the like.

It seems most of the coins are cleaned, damaged or have environmental issues. I’d rather buy a single problem-free coin for $8 than a bag of damaged coins.

But, for the price of a movie ticket, you can have hours of excitement and entertainment that an easily purchased coin may not be able to provide .

That 1850 half penny with the square hole was probably nailed to a door post for good luck. Back in the 1800s most of the nails were square.

That engraved Canadian large cent is quite interesting. Worth $8 by itself. To get multiple silvers in an $8 bag is also pretty remarkable.

Personally I can't think of a single $8 coin that would be as fun to look at as this bunch is.

The British sixpence, Norway 50 ore and Mexico 50 centavos are the good ones. Old Mexican silver is hot.
