The texture on the high points of the obverse look odd. It almost looks like fabric... I have seen many of these for sale (I can get them for about a dollar each). I just haven't had the urge to buy one yet.

Nice catch Steve and a great bargain! Here's a Ptolemaic chalkous. I'm not certain (and neither is the current scholarship) about the attribution, so you get your choice of three rulers. That happens with Ptolemaic bronzes. This one has tabs which were not trimmed when the flan came off the casting sprues - I always think that makes for an interesting coin... Other members have shown you just how large Ptolemiac bronzes can get. I'll show you just how small...
