Hello, Here is another lincoln from same roll as my last post. This coin also has the same die gouge on reverse but don't know what to think of the dots on obverse. Pics arent great but I think you can see the dots. Any thoughts? Thanks

I don't know but I've found lots of Kennedy halves like that and I just assumed it was from contact with a ballistic bag due to the pattern.

I like to know the answer though.

I too think it is some kind of contact mark. But given that the coin has other erors and came from a roll of errors perhaps it's something else.

On the old morgan dollars patterns like that were known as textile toning and came from the weave of the canvas bags they were stored in. This definitely looks like textile toning. It would be kind of suprising for it to develop so quickly though, even on a reactive metal like copper.

Completely agree. Even though the poster said that they came from rolls, they were indeed in a ballistic bag before they were in the rolls.
I have seen may of these.
