wow guys this is my third dime from 1988 Philadelphia that has some pretty nasty die deterioration. To be honest I don't understand how people wouldn't want to collect stuff like this. I think it's way cool. If you want to see all three of my die deterioration examples just look in the comments below. They are pretty intensely messed up haha I think they are all from the same die too because you can kinda see how it started and how it finished. Here it is and enjoy. I mean look at it, look how massively pounded that O in one on the reverse looks. Upper cross bars on the TED almost like they never existed. The First S in states formed a crater.. and to me, it looks like in god we trust was etched out on the side of some wall.... where the heck is the L and B going? Is it because the "I" looks all tough, high and mighty ready to fight the world? Haha oh yeah. The dime also has a hang nail... or something. Jezum. What went wrong in 88?

Meh, I like an old rusty car. In the end it's not all about the look of the car, but it's character, and I say if you like it's character, it's all up to the eyes of the beholder.
yea keep saving those junk coins and in a few years you'll be dumping them at the bank for a few hundred bucks...
This is collectible.. This is collectible. This piece of junk is collectible. And last and definitely least this piece of metal is collectible.. but my dimes aren't collectible. And they aren't cool....? Whatever lol. I can give more description on my dime then you can with your perfect coin. I can give more description on my dimes then you could on a lot of errors ha. And even better, I can SEE the doubling on my dimes better than you can see on listed doubled dies. But don't worry, I realize what's happened.. you guys are into conformity, I am the anarchist in the coin world. You guys get told what to collect, I collect as I please and wish you guys would stop telling people what they should and shouldn't collect. Just makes you look too smart for your own good. Definitely wouldn't collect people like that as friends. My dime has the one up on you
Personally, I like 'em. They tell a story of the dies. I don't think anyone is telling you what to or not to collect, they're just saying that even though they are interesting to you, they will probably never have added value. The thing with most collectors, whether it's coins, stamps, Beanie Babies, Pokemon cards, etc., is that they collect them for 2 reasons; they like what they collect (the most important reason), and because they anticipate a return on their investment into their collection. I saw collect what you like/love, and the rest of us be damned!
I know they aren't directly telling me that but they probably doing it subliminally. Idk telling someone they will spend their collection in a year is kinda like wishing someone spend their 1943 copper penny by accident. It's kinda rude ha, and if they were trying to tell me there is no extra value then they should just tell me like that. shoot lot of people think an Eisenhower dollar is only worth a dollar. When I have sold one for 6 bucks in circulated condition..
They're interesting, for sure, but what they aren't is scarce. You only get dies that deteriorated when you strike a bazillion coins from them, and chances are each die that deteriorated produced nearly a full "die life" worth of coins just that deteriorated. That's what keeps people from finding them collectible.
