Hey all. Found another SD 1970 S. Not as in good a condition as my first one. My question is whether the MM is an RPM? I have viewed the RPM listings but all are associated with LD 1970 S LMC coins. There would be a difference with the MM between the 1970 S LD and SD coins... Heck, given they are manually struck into the die there would be a difference between LD coins as each die is unique, right? Tell me what you think and if this is a S/S north MM. Thanks. ~Rob
Thanks potty... I cannot find a reference, as they all seem to be with the LD coins. Wonder what an RPM will do to the SD value? ~Rob
I am just not seeing an RPM. This variety if an RPM would be well known as the 70S small date has been a hot topic for 50 years. I think that Meow has the second end of the debate which is either some die deterioration or a slight amount of MD added to multiple die chips. The S MM is well known for IDBs.
Thanks Amos, Meow and Pickin... Yes, I have seen quite a few die chips to the S MM on many coins... I suppose it is related to the letter itself. No biggie if not an RPM... Still a SD 70S. I mean it would be cool if it were... I thought it might be, as usually when I have seen MD on a coin there is more of it around the coin. This is only to the MM and since it was hand punched into the die... ~Rob
