I've been reading "Strike it Rich With Pocket Change". the coin in my photo (when referenced) looks like a large date, I just want to make sure first. Also, the notches in the date are MD, right? Just wanting to make sure so I don't have to ask about the large/small date again. Is this the large date because the bottom of the drops a little lower than the "0"? Thanks.
Yes, Large Date. You show one distinguishing characteristic of the date with your line drawing. Also, the inner loop end of the nine points to the bottom portion of the 7 rather than the middle of the 7 for a small date. The LIBERTY of a small date is often ill formed and fuzzy looking whereas the large date is better, but I have found many large date 70S that look like the small date photo in the below reference, but are large dates.
