    Roman Republican, uncertain mint
    Anonymous AR Quinarius
    after 211 BC.
Obv. Head of Roma right, V behind.
Rev. The Dioscuri galloping right; in exergue, ROMA in linear frame.
Cr. 47/1; the auction companies on CA do not agree if Cr 47/1 is a Sydenham 141 or 192. I think it looks more like 192. BMCRR Rome 195 (even though Crawford calls it from an unknown mint).
    2.12 grams, 16.00mm
    EF, struck on rusty dies

I am aware of links for deciphering between anonymous Denarii and Victoratii, but am not aware of one for quinarii. Anyone have a link or article on quinarii attribution?

Honestly the best source for attributing these is a copy of Crawford. The plates are very helpful. I saw your post on the RROME mailing list asking about the difference between 47/1a and 1b and thought I'd answer that here as well: 47/1b is similar in every way to 47/1a except that Roma has a larger nose. Not sure why Crawford made the distinction(especially given how he lumps certain other issues with various stylistic variations together), but that is the only difference.

    Magnificient example !

Cathy E. King's "Roman quinarii from the republic to Diocletian and the Tetrarchy" is quite a great resource on those too

She doesn't distinguish Craw. 47/1a and 1b though, both being under the same catalog number (#3)

Heck, I was just looking at one like this last night. The "V" drew my attention. Nice pickup.

My Anonymous AR Quinarii after 211:
They may be a bit ugly, but they are mine... And, they look as though they passed through many an ancient hand. That is what I like: they have been circulated.
