So I just got a presidential coin back in the vending machine, well I put 5$ in cause I got 3 presidentials and a Susan b. Yeah so what I have a problem with coins lol. So I get an Andrew Johnson with No edge markings idk if it is an error or if that coin just didn't have the edge markings on them.. either way I can't find a single thing about it online or what the price of it may be. It'd be great if someone could give me a little insight. Thanks in advance!!
Pics would be helpful. I haven't followed these for years but I don't think there are any reported. Thus, unless your coin has been altered, it could be a rare find. And if I'm correct, I'd go back and unload that vending machine. On a side note, back in 2007 a buddy of mine found 11,000 smooth edge GWs.
First off if it does turn out to be an unaltered missing edge letter you're fingerprinting the bajesus out of it. Always hold coin by its edge only. There is a variety called weak edge lettering. Can you see anything at all on the edge? Also can you post pics of the full coin. How does it look, anitherwords, circulated or just like new?
While it's always difficult to tell from a photo if the edge appears smooth with no lettering whatsoever it could be a great find. How's it look otherwise?
It's circulated for sure the sackagawea I got out of there with no edge markings looks brand new though
I'd post your coin in the error forum as you'll likely get a better response. It could be a great find.
