Well, I don't have what you call a "collection", but I do have the knowledge!
Have you ever lost a coin, knowing where it went? Share!

I dropped a wheatie from the '40s down my bathroom sink when I tried to clean them :headbang: :headbang: ! One bang for losing it; one for trying to wash it.
My family used to keep important stuff behind the pictures on the mantle above the fireplace (USED to). When my mom found a 1930s Buffy in her change, well, it didn't go in a book-- it went behind the mantle. A few (or one) year/s later, I went to look for it and it was gone, and I presumed it fell down the crack in the mantle. When my dad looked for it, all he could find was an okay 1995 penny.

Lost a coin! No I can't recall ever losing a coin that I wanted in my collection, for even that matter ever losing a coin from change. I seem to be very conscious about all the coins I come in contact with.
But hey, when I think of something, I'll post again.

That is what is refered to as 'inflation'. It happens all the time, even if you don't have a fireplace or mantle.

Its not really 'wierd' but I lost about 3 or 4 rolls of war nickels. Searching rolls, I came across 4 rolls that were almost all war nickels. I set them aside and kept searching. I took all of the other nickles back to bank. A month or so later, I opened them up to look at them. I had saved the wrong rolls and had a whole bunch of common nickels.

I also lost some steel wheaties this way.
