OR..........if there might be some rocks just below the surface! LOL! Couldn't resist. Sorry! Actually, if he bought it for $10 below PCGS Price Guide then great! As he "matures" in the collecting arena, perhaps he'll upgrade it at some point with either a 66 or 67 but until then, I'm sure he'll enjoy his purchase. After all, some folks are in this just for the coins............not the profit.
Simple. He looks at them yet cannot offord them just yet. When he can, then he'll have one so you can't really bust his chops for having "goals".
I collect 1933 US Double Eagles. ETA: If you are going to collect without actual possession, you might as well go big.
This must be the guy: http://www.cointalk.com/t219694/ Btw, this coin routinely sells for $10 less than PCGS Price Guide. I think the best part of this deal is that the seller doesn't accept MO's. He just saved Tim the pain of buyers remorse.
Yeah, the difference here though is they actually have at least one coin, so thus they are entitled to say they collect coins. So you can say your knowledgeable then, but I wouldn't go as far to say you collect them then. One you possess one, then you can say your a collector. True, but you still can't claim you're a collector if you don't possess them. Perhaps you can say your a collector of knowledge but you can't say your a collector of something you don't even own. No, it just doesn't work that way. I don't go around telling people I collect stars because I study them, look at them and learn everything there is to know about them. I'd call myself an astronomer more than likely, not a collector of stars.
Well, when the day comes when he owns one or more, he can then say he collects them. For now, I think the proper term would be, he desires them, not collects them. One has to obtain before saying they collect something.
"US bidders only Please ask any questions before you bid I combine S/H whenever I can to save money so check my other auctions add 0.25 cents for each additional single coins auction won" It seems that this seller wanted questions, but a certain someone didn't bother asking.... or reading.
I had 2 like that (ms66) and sold 1 about 4 years ago for $65 at an antique show/flea market. prices were better then. I'm keeping the other just 'cause it's a nice coin.
I won't buy without PP. Just too easy. There are items for sale on the message boards right now that I want, but the sellers post "NO PAYPAL", and I just won't buy. It's foolish to loose a sale for not taking someone's money because the wrapper it comes in.
